I want to form an order of priests, and I need your help
Dear Friend,
This is one of the most important email messages that I have ever sent.
I have publicly stated this a few times in the past, but now concrete plans are in motion: I want to establish a Word on Fire order of priests to continue my work long into the future and ensure the continued effectiveness and expansion of our mission. | | When you look at the great orders that have existed in the Church—the Franciscans, the Dominicans, the Jesuits—they were all formed to answer the most pressing questions of their time. And for us today in 2025, the most pressing question is how to draw people into—or back to—the Catholic faith. The first step toward officially creating an order is to write a rule by which the member priests would live. I've already done that. Thanks to a generous donor, we've also secured our first house in Rochester, Minnesota, where our first priests can live in community according to this rule and receive advanced formation from me to learn how to evangelize within the ethos of Word on Fire. If this is successful—and I pray that the Holy Spirit will provide the right priests—we can proceed through the Vatican's process of officially establishing the order.
With your support, we can cover the numerous costs associated with training, housing, and sending these priests on mission. | SUPPORT THE ORDER | Indeed, the theme of our anniversary is "Duc in altum"—Go out into the deep! And that is exactly what these priests are meant to do. Quite simply, they will live and breathe evangelization in whatever role they play after their formation. They could work in parishes or dioceses as directors of evangelization. They could teach in seminaries to train future priests in effective ways of proclaiming the Gospel. Certainly they could create videos, books, and other content, as I have done, to reach the religiously unaffiliated across online channels. But through whatever assignment they have, they will proclaim Christ in the culture and draw people into his Church. The possibilities, I think, are endless—and exciting. The goal is to initially recruit three to five priests and three to five novices for the order. As we continue to flesh out this program, I ask for your prayers and your financial support to make this happen. I am hopeful that this will become a lasting order in the Church, leading the way in evangelization for centuries to come.
And may God bless you. In Christ,
