Dear Neighbor, Last week, my colleagues and I were able to find common ground and secure the passage of a continuing resolution devoid of harmful cuts to key federal programs and hyper-partisan proposals. In doing so, we made a commitment to putting people over politics and keeping the government open. Now that government funding has been extended, it's time for us to get back to meeting the urgent needs of the people we are privileged to represent—which means advancing our goals of lowering costs for hard working Coloradans, growing the middle class from the bottom up and the middle out, and building safer communities. In between my time in Washington, D.C. – last weekend, I had the opportunity to join local veterans at the American Legion in Northern Colorado to celebrate Veterans Day and honor the veterans who have served and protected our country. I also had the profound honor of surprising constituent and local Navy veteran Ed Sharp with replacement medals paying tribute to his service of our country. Ed had previously lost these medals during the Marshall Fire in 2021, and together we were able to once again thank him for his service. Our veterans and servicemembers sacrifice so much to keep us safe, and it is incumbent on us to make sure we honor our country's sacred commitments to them when they come home. Which is why this past week I also called on two federal agencies — HUD and DOE — to cut red tape preventing veterans from receiving the support they need. Our letters requested increased protections for VA benefits and the revision of existing program applications which unintentionally impede veterans seeking additional support for themselves and their families. Read more HERE. Wishing everyone a great week ahead, and a Happy Thanksgiving!

Wishing everyone a great week ahead, and a Happy Thanksgiving! | Pictured Above: Congressman Joe Neguse, local Vietnam Vet Ed Sharp, and the Sharp Family at last weekend's Veterans Day celebration. | For years I've been leading an effort to ban Members of Congress from trading stocks, as I've long believed that representatives should be acting in the best interests of the American people, not their stock portfolios! Last week I sat down with my Colorado colleague Rep. Ken Buck to discuss with ABC News our bipartisan effort to enact this important ethics reform — and I'll keep working to get it across the finish line! | As Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Wildfire Caucus, I joined my colleagues in unveiling a Wildfire Resource Guide for the 118th Congress. My staff and I collaborated with a number of stakeholders and local leaders to develop a guide specific for Colorado with useful information about how communities can better prepare for and recover from wildfires. In the event that your home, family, or community are threatened by wildfire, we want to ensure that you have the resources you need. View the 2024 Colorado Wildfire Resource Guide HERE. | | - ANN: We are now accepting nominations for the 2023 Service Awards! Each year, our office is honored to award residents of Colorado's 2nd Congressional District with service awards honoring outstanding members of the community for their commitment to the betterment of our state. Find additional information about each award, including details on requirements and eligibility HERE.
- We passed the Drought Preparedness Act through committee with unanimous support. As communities in the West continue to struggle with worsening drought conditions, it is critical for us to improve water availability for those impacted.
- I was honored to take part in lighting the beloved Boulder Star on Flagstaff. At a time of great challenge for so many, it is my hope this star can again serve as a beacon of hope for brighter days ahead.
Should you need any assistance from our office, please do not hesitate to reach out. Please stay safe, stay healthy, and stay hopeful! Sincerely, | | | | Joe Neguse Member of Congress | | | |
