BIDEN ROLLS OUT THE RED CARPET FOR BESTIE XI Biden and Xi met face-to-face in California on Wednesday for the first time since November 2022, an effort to lower tensions between the two countries that heightened throughout the summer. In one notable development, Biden and Xi reached an agreement on halting the production of illicit fentanyl and resuming military-to-military communications. "I welcome the positive steps we've taken today and it's important for the world to see that we're implementing the approach in the best traditions of American diplomacy. We're talking to our competitors and just talking, just being blunt with one another, so there's no misunderstanding is a key element to maintaining global stability and delivering for the American people," Biden said. After the meeting, Biden doubled down on his remarks earlier in the year that Xi was a dictator, a label the Chinese Communist Party blasted as "political manipulation." “Well, look, he is. I mean he’s a dictator in a sense that he is a guy who runs a country that is a communist country that is based on a form of government that’s totally different than ours,” Biden told reporters before walking off stage.  Secretary of State Antony Blinken appeared visibly rattled when Biden called Xi a "dictator," literally handwringing as his boss shot from the hip.  Despite the administration's efforts to cool tensions between the two nation states, China’s foreign ministry lashed out Biden's "dictator" remark.
