Dear Friend,

All of us, at one time or another, have experienced the pain of losing someone we love. The Church brings us back to this place each November by dedicating the month to our beloved deceased and, especially on All Souls Day, calling us to remember and pray for those who have gone before us.

Praying for the dead is important both for us and for them. It gives us the opportunity to remain connected with our departed family and friends, who, in a way, are closer to us now than when they were with us in the world. It is also one of the spiritual works of mercy; we offer our prayers so that they might enter into the wonderful light of Christ.

I invite you to make a tribute gift and include the names of your deceased loved ones so that our Word on Fire team can be united with you in prayer for these beloved souls throughout the month of November.

MAKE A TRIBUTE GIFT

On All Souls Day, we are reminded, too, that nothing here below lasts; indeed, the readings at the end of the liturgical year orient us to the end of the world and Christ's second coming. But there is something in us that transcends this passing world; the life of the spirit opens us up to the eternity of God.

We participate in that eternity, here and now, through the truth, goodness, and beauty of our Catholic faith. And sharing that faith—so that the millions of souls who hunger for God might be drawn to Christ through his Church—is the mission of Word on Fire.

Please consider making a donation today in memory of your deceased loved

ones to help our ministry grow and flourish. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, our content reaches you and millions of others each month.

A follower and recent donor sent us these beautiful words of encouragement with her gift: "The Word on Fire mission matters! Without it I would not be the follower of Christ that I am today, striving hard to walk each day with humility and purpose, moving centered in love and service."

MAKE A TRIBUTE GIFT

In the Gospel reading for All Souls Day, Jesus says, "This is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I shall raise him on the last day" (John 6:40). So, with renewed passion and purpose, let us evangelize our world. Start with those closest to you; perhaps share with them some of the resources that Word on Fire has to offer—from films, to books, to free podcasts and articles. Bring the hope of Christ to everyone you meet. And remember that your charitable support gives us the ability to keep proclaiming Christ in the culture with beautiful and engaging programs, publications, and other resources.

This All Souls Day, remember the importance of praying for the dead, of remaining spiritually alert in this life, and of our mission to "go into all the world and proclaim the good news" (Mark 16:15). With your support, Word on Fire can help our brothers and sisters establish a personal relationship with Christ, who is "the way, and the truth, and the life" (John 14:6). May God bless you and all of your loved ones, and may the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

In Christ,

+ Bishop Robert Barron
