More books, more films, and a Word on Fire order of priests!
Dear Friend,
As we celebrate 25 years of Word on Fire in 2025, it is a wonderful opportunity to look back on some of the most impactful moments of the last quarter century.
It is also a time to assess the future of this apostolate, and Word on Fire is making some bold plans to ensure that our evangelization efforts continue to be successful for generations to come.
To make this happen, we are seeking your help to raise $25 million over the next two years to fund three main areas of evangelization: A Word on Fire order of priests Increased film production and distribution New book publishing projects
| | LEARN MORE | Order of Priests We are thrilled to announce that Bishop Barron seeks to establish a Word on Fire order of priests to continue his work long into the future and ensure the ongoing effectiveness and expansion of Word on Fire's evangelization efforts.
The goal is to initially recruit three to five priests and three to five novices for the order, living according to a rule that Bishop Barron has developed.
Through a generous donor, Word on Fire secured a home in Rochester, Minnesota, where the priests can begin living in community according to the rule and receive advanced formation to learn to evangelize within the Word on Fire ethos.
Recruitment of priests will begin shortly, but your generosity is needed to fund the costs associated with living expenses, formation and education, and ultimately sending these priests out on a mission of evangelization.
We pray that this order will exist in perpetuity, leading the way in evangelization and drawing people into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
| | SUPPORT THE ORDER | Evangelizing Through the Art of Film Word on Fire has always promoted the beauty of the Catholic faith, and this was perhaps never more evident than with the release of the CATHOLICISM series in 2011, which aired nationwide on public television stations.
Given the reach and effectiveness of film, we seek to enhance and accelerate our film production and distribution. Through our anniversary fundraising, we hope to produce new high-impact documentary and narrative films that will engage the culture.
Distributed in theaters and through our online Word on Fire Digital platform, these films will reach millions of people, creating new touchpoints between the Church and the culture.
Several projects are already in various stages of creative development, but we will require more staff, additional equipment, and expanded studio production and editing space to bring them to life.
With your support, these films will be an exciting addition to the extensive lineup of Word on Fire content and will allow us to reach new audiences on a large scale.
| | SUPPORT NEW FILMS | Expanded Book Publishing From the publication of Word on Fire's first book in 2015, we have grown to become one of the top Catholic book publishers in the world.
In our 25th year, we are looking to grow this aspect of the ministry even further with several exciting developments. First, we plan to release beautiful, deluxe editions of some of the Great Books of Western Civilization, spanning literature to history, philosophy to theology, and politics to poetry.
Secondly, Word on Fire is embarking on a 13-year project to translate and publish an authoritative English edition of the entire collected works of Joseph Ratzinger (Pope Benedict XVI), making the writings of this influential theologian accessible to a global audience.
Lastly, Word on Fire Publishing will create a new literary imprint that publishes high-quality, relevant works of fiction, poetry, drama, creative nonfiction, and aesthetic criticism. Word on Fire Luminor will bring out buried riches from the treasury of Catholic literature and highlight key voices among Catholic fiction writers to secular audiences.
