Dear Neighbor, The start of August was a turbulent time for many folks across the 2nd District, especially those in Boulder and Larimer counties whose neighborhoods were impacted by recent wildfires. Thanks to the countless local and wildland firefighters, first responders, and local law enforcement officials who bravely fought on the frontlines of these flames, the Stone Canyon and the Alexander Mountain fires are both fully contained. When the evacuation alerts for various neighborhoods were sent, countless volunteers across Colorado dropped everything to support their neighbors in finding safety. I am immensely grateful to these individuals and to the local leaders who worked with our office to make sure folks had the most up to date information. This week, I hosted a Wildfire Telephone Town Hall with Special Guests Boulder County Sheriff Curtis Johnson and Larimer County Sheriff John Feyen to give local residents a chance to hear directly from them on how best to stay safe and stay prepared as the threat of western wildfires increases. To the more than 3,600 constituents who were able to attend, thank you for joining our conversation and for your insightful questions. The uptick in wildfires will surely continue to not only endanger our homes and families, but the brave firefighters tasked with putting them out. Please know, I will continue to be committed to working with my colleagues in Congress and with elected officials at every level to bring in more resources across the board for Colorado's response and recovery efforts.

For nearly 32 years, the TABOR refunds of hard-working Coloradans have not been subject to such an approach by the IRS, and the agency should not change this precedent now. Read more about this effort HERE.
I also joined Colorado State University President Amy Parsons in announcing $1.2 million in federal funding for food and agricultural science related research and innovation taking place at the university. The brilliant researchers and faculty members at CSU are working to create solutions that mitigate the impacts of climate variability and address water availability issues across our communities. Read our announcement HERE. | - Enjoyed serving breakfast to folks in Loveland for the annual Pancake Breakfast at the Larimer County Fair & Rodeo.
- Proud to announce federal funding for a new fire truck that will help support the Yampa Valley Regional Airport's emergency operations.
- Excited to join the Laboratory for Atmospheric & Space Physics and NASA Goddard at CU Boulder last week to support the Space Act MOU, which will continue to advance space weather research for years to come!
