Dear Friend,

As we continue updating you on the production of Volume V: Exile and Return of the Word on Fire Bible, today, we bring you a brief look at each of the books it contains.

1 Chronicles tells the familiar story of the rise of King David.

2 Chronicles follows Solomon and subsequent kings of Judah up to the Babylonian exile. Judah falls into exile, but eventually, King Cyrus allows the Jewish people to return to Jerusalem.

Ezra is a priest who restores the practice of worship into the life of the Jewish people when they return from exile.

Nehemiah rebuilds the walls of Jerusalem.

Tobit is a faithful Israelite in exile who sends his son Tobias on a mission to retrieve ten talents of silver. God sends the angel Raphael to accompany Tobias.

Judith is a Jewish widow who, through her beauty and wit, saves her people from the Assyrians.

Esther is a faithful Jewish woman who becomes queen and saves the Jewish people from destruction.

In 1 Maccabees, Judas Maccabeus leads a guerrilla army to drive out the Seleucid occupation, reclaiming and rededicating the temple and thus marking the first Festival of Lights—Hanukkah.

In 2 Maccabees, we read an inspiring story of a woman and her seven sons, each of whom would rather die than deny God.
