Dear Neighbor, Two years ago, the President signed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act into law. This package of common sense reforms, which I worked hard with my colleagues to get across the finish line, was the first major gun violence prevention legislation enacted in nearly 30 years. As we commemorate the 2nd anniversary of this law and the progress it has made, we also reflect on the work still to come. For our district – from Boulder to Fort Collins to Longmont and beyond – far too many of our neighbors, students, family members, and friends have been impacted by the devastating consequences of gun violence. It's in their honor and in honor of National Gun Violence Prevention Awareness Month, that I continue to call for common sense gun violence prevention reforms that will strengthen community safety and save lives. We are ready to reach across the aisle and work with folks of all political stripes, in good faith to address this problem. As Assistant Minority Leader of the U.S. House, last week I delivered remarks on the House Floor to raise awareness of the gun violence epidemic and shine a light on the need to prevent mass shootings and build safer communities. Watch my remarks HERE.
Dear Neighbor,
Two years ago, the President signed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act into law.
| Pictured (Above): Assistant Minority Leader Joe Neguse hosts press conference with gun violence prevention leaders. | But, just words are not enough — we must continue to act. Which is why I also just reintroduced the Safe Workplaces Act, a bill that takes steps to keep employees and the public safe from threats of gun violence. No one should have to fear going to work, visiting public places, or attending certain events because they are worried about the prospect of a mass shooting.
Inaction on this issue is no longer an option. Our office will continue to champion necessary and lifesaving gun violence prevention legislation that helps put an end to this deadly epidemic once and for all. | Pictured (Above): Assistant Minority Leader Joe Neguse at a Gun Violence Prevention Task Force press conference in June, 2024. | As Ranking Member of the U.S. House Subcommittee on Federal Lands, I joined Colorado Senator Michael Bennet in writing to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regarding my opposition to permits that would allow for an increase in oil transported along the Colorado River.
In short, it is clear that any potential train derailment that spills oil in the Colorado River's headwaters would be disastrous to our water, agriculture, and wildlife habitat. We will keep fighting to protect the longevity of this critical water source from threats of pollution and droughts. Read more about our letter to the EPA HERE.

Thanks to the efforts of local, state, and federal leaders, this new childcare center will help expand support for local students & their families. Read more HERE.
- Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, we were proud to announce $408,000 in Federal resources for the Towns of Gypsum and Timnath to help reduce road safety risks! Read more HERE.
- Delighted to participate in Rocky Mountain Equality (RMEQ)'s Pride Month celebration. Together, we recognized the local leaders helping to make our world a better and safer place for all!
